Our Mission
Georgia Youth Impact Project (GYIP) is a nonprofit organization that provides support and guidance to Georgia's youth and families by providing preventive services, academic support, and life skills. At GYIP, we are dedicated to empowering youth through innovative programs and community outreach. Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment for young people to learn, grow, and thrive.
Our Goal
Our goal is to help youth and families manage and cope with the many issues and challenges that they may encounter and/or face in life. GYIP teaches youth how to manage their anger, build confidence, achieve their goals, and utilize the necessary skills to channel their emotions positively. GYIP utilizes a research-based program and offers opportunities that will help youth and families make wiser and safer choices. GYIP focuses attention on family violence, grief counseling, academic achievement, parenting education, leadership skills, and conflict resolutions.
Mr. Manley has over 20+ years of experience working with and supporting youth across the state of Georgia. His passion for youth stems from being raised by a single mother and losing his son, a veteran Marine, at the age of 25. Manley’s son was tragically killed in a senseless act of gun violence. Mr. Manley has worked with Troup County’s Sheriff Department, Twin Cedars, and OTP, an outdoor residential program for at-risk youth. Mr. Manley served as the coordinator for the Saving our Sons (S.O.S) Program- a program sponsored by the City of LaGrange, GA. Manley has worked in collaboration with the Troup County School System and the City of LaGrange to provide prevention services for Youth. Most recently, Mr. Manley has received sponsorship support from the City of Hogansville, GA, and is currently finalizing plans to extend these services in the area. Lastly, Mr. Manley also worked in the Meriwether County School System as a teacher.
Mr. Manley is a dedicated, committed and hard working individual. He has a passion serving in the community and supporting youth and their families. Mr. Manley has built countless partnerships and welcomes the opportunity for you to be a valued partner.
GYIP works collectively with numerous stakeholders such as local police departments, prosecutors, probation officers, community leaders, and educational institutions. GYIP focuses deterrence-based interventions to reduce youth violence that is individualized to the peer, family, and community levels. We offer opportunities to work with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to help produce positive outcomes in the community. Anticipated outcomes include reduced behavioral referrals and suspensions, improved conflict resolution and increased academic achievement in schools.
GYIP's impact on the community has been very beneficial and rewarding. We have introduced effective problem-solving strategies to our youth and provided them with a more optimistic outlook on their future. When given the proper tools to succeed, we believe the children of our community will have productive careers that will instill pride in themselves, and their families.
There is no doubt that cities win when there are strong collaborative efforts between like minded partners and the necessary resources. According to an Urban Institute’s article, “Nine Strategies to Guide Efforts to Reduce Youth Gun Violence”, the authors discuss how to build an antiviolence infrastructure. This article also placed a heavy emphasis on local governments having an important role in funding, coordinating, and supporting antiviolence work. Executing the needed strategies requires investing in the people and organizations that do antiviolence work. The community is an essential partner and can provide immense resources for decreasing violence and maintaining peace. GYIP extends an invitation to partner with you!
